Seaside Fellowship

Warmer weather has FINALLY decided to flirt with the Pacific Northwest. It's been a long, dark, wet winter that totally bypassed spring mostly just to be a brat more than anything else.  This last week however the dry and the sun and the happy attitudes were back for a visit. Ahhh.....

We took our annual Memorial Weekend trip to the Oregon seaside, but this time with some local adoption friends. Their sweet one with an extra chromosome has been home just a few months and despite having flown over it, had never seen the ocean. So off we went road trip style...

Crossing over into Oregon. Amazing views of Mt. St. Helens over the Longview bridge:

Columbia River views on the Lewis & Clark Trial:

Side trip to see the shipwreck of the Peter Iredale. Stranded in 1906 and chilling on this Oregon sandbar ever since:

Playing on the beach:

Brooklyn's momma & daddy sure LOVE her <3

Feeding the seals & visiting the aquarium:

Riding our bikes:

"We" were riding our bikes up & down the promenade and suddenly the back half doubled in the dead weight that is normally back there...can you see how my side kick was riding? Down syndrome-yoga style?? Totally cheating dude. You know better than to use all your chromosomes around us mere humans. Totally cheating.

Playing in the pool. Brooklyn's first adventure in the pool. She did GREAT!:

There is no where he'd rather be than in a swimming pool. This kid is seriously part fish!

S'mores on the beach:

These two little hams totally hit a groove together on the beach making s'mores. Isaac decided to be 'big brother' and teach Brooklyn a few signs and then show her how to make s'mores over the fire...because he has seen this done exactly 1 time...four minutes ago!

"I got this mom"

"Here, Brooklyn, let me help you"

Isaac: "You put it IN the fire just like this, see?"
Brooklyn: "Well, won't you just look at that!"

"Now, this is the important part; pay attention, Brooklyn...you HAVE to, I repeat HAVE to drop the marshmallow in the sand. I. AM. AN. EXPERT in this regard"

(Brooklyn: I'm not entirely sure he knows what he is talking about"

We fellowshipped. We laughed. We chased kids. We shared our hearts. We stayed up late talking across our balconies while the littles slept. We breathed in the ocean air. We relaxed in each other's care.  It was kinda great. And a perfect way to start summer!
