A young woman came into my work today. Twenty-three years old already with multiple pregnancies, one she chose to parent, a few she terminated...AND one she placed for an open adoption. I was so proud of her! I caught myself trying to look directly into her eyes and I wanting desperately to hug her: “You made a good decision; ‘we’ll’ do a good job raising your son”. I wish I knew how to better communicate the unbelievable amount of courage birth parents have. They make the ultimate parenting decision. And what a responsibility and honor it is as adoptive parents to parent their children. Lord show me how to be that voice.
