The zoo has always been one of my all time favorite places to go, so I was especially excited when I...I mean my beloved son...got a zoo pass for Christmas. I wasn't sure how Isaac would respond, but as we passed each exhibit and I pointed to each animal and repeated the sign we've learned together over the last few months, you could see the light bulb switch on: "OH! That's a tiger! Look! An elephant!! FISHIES! They're real!" It was a real Helen Keller moment...and fun to share with Gramma & some cousins.
We are at the zoo!! (Look at all those teeth!) |
Cousin Magdalene feeding a Budgie Buddy |
Cousin Vaughn wasn't so sure about being this surrounded by birds bit. "Whet's wawk past the burrds next time, Grammy" |
Up close with the Anoa |
A couple of monkeys chilaxing |
I made the mistake of loudly saying "I need the all White kids to look here!" Gunna have to figure out a different way to say that next time. |
Isaac knows the sign for this pretty lady! |
Sneaking a drink from Cousin Vaughn |
He somehow figured out how to procure snacks & drinks from everyone in the group. |
Sneaking a drink from Cousin Magdalene |
Checking out the sting-ray touch tank |
Awwww...he reached out for his big cousin's hand all on his own. (and didn't attempt to bite her once!) |
Riding the Carousel (Note Cousin Vaughn's death grip on Gramma in the background!) |
She named her carousel cougar...Rebecca |
I think he may want to go back to the Budgie Buddies. |
Yeah carousels!! |
A fun afternoon at the zoo! (No, I'm not drunk...Isaac had simultaneously just yanked my hair & attempted to gouge my eyeballs out. Still working on that gentle-touch concept) |
