Happy NINTH Birthday, Isaac!

My little boy is NINE. He is asleep on the couch as I type this and thanks to the most recent growth spurt he is stretched over three whole sections of the four seater sectional. He is in a solid size 7 for clothes; a size I didn't realize even existed when I was struggling to get him to gain weight before his heart surgery so many years ago. He has become quite the basketball star at school, even showing his typical peers how to bounce a ball between their legs...and making sure that the chromosomally enhanced friends visiting from the developmental classroom get included with his gen ed classmates. He loves to cook and draw and dance; this child of mine is clearly a right brained creature. And oh my gosh, his laugh!  He has the most infectious laugh! Most importantly though is his is servant and prayerful heart. He loves to take care of people and rushes to pray over anyone or any situation that clearly needs a bit o'Jesus (including his classroom table of friends during the school halloween party).

I struggled to find a meaningful way to celebrate Isaac's birthday this year. The unstructured nature of parties is jut not his thing BUT he loves basketball, and guess who just happened to come to town the weekend of his birthday (& Momma found a Groupon for?!)... The Harlem Globetrotters!

A few phone calls later, the Birthday boy got to spend a pregame hour on the court with the best of the best. They were truly GREAT. Each player going out of their way to make Isaac feel like a champ.

We had a blast!  Big sister was even hooting & hollering during the game. The entertainment was so good, I honestly think we've been ruined for 'real' b-ball games in the future.

Another goal for this birthday was figuring out a way to feed his cooking skills (no pun intended) with the appropriate size and developmental components. He had long past outgrown his little wooden kitchen from 2013, but its one of the things he loves to play with the most...

With a little Pinterest inspiration and some elbow grease I figure out a way to make him what he needs. Chef Isaac will be able to create for hours on end now!

Happy NINTH Birthday, Isaac!  You are indeed my FAVORITE boy <3
