Prayers Of A Village

Earlier this year, I stepped down from a coveted director position to allow a more flexible schedule with Isaac's schooling and to open up some time on the calendar for some ministry opportunities.  In stepping down AND cutting my hours, I knew our budget was going to be deeply affected, but God said He would provide exactly what we needed.

The extra time has allowed me to be actively involved in Isaac's education, spearhead some adoption advocacy campaigns, volunteer my time to review medical files of children waiting to be adopted, AND...to help write a book (see the list of authors below??).

Writing has been a fun process for me over the last 6 years. It has been an outlet for all the amazing and painful and redemptive things that adoption is. I've gotten to share with dozens of blogs and online magazines and some print material as well. I like reading the words the Holy spirit puts in my fingers...plus I don't have to do my hair and most of the time I'm in my not so attractive PJs as I type, so there is that. *wink*  When strangers (many who have become friends!) have said "I read your article about down syndrome adoption...now we have our son/daughter!" I absolutely melt.  God put that family together..and He allowed not only Isaac and I to be a part of that beautiful story, but we are getting to see the fruit of the labor.

Don't let anyone ever tell you God can't use you and your weird underdeveloped or forgotten talent.
Is there something you enjoy doing? Or thought you were good at once?  The Lord put that in you...give it back to Him and see what happens!  He can use that even in the midst of your crazy & seemingly ministry-less life (see bad hair & typing in your PJ comment above!).

Prayers Of A Village is a passion project with other families who have seen the fruit of encouragement on the adoption road. The cost covers printing and shipping only. There are no royalties. No big contracts. Only a heart to bless and encourage other families who are feeling the weight of loving God's most vulnerable.   If you would like a personal copy or would like to order several to give away, or even to stock your foster/adoption care ministry library, please click on the link below.  We pray that it is a blessing & encouragement to anyone who reads it.
