Happy SEVENTH Birthday, Isaac!

My boy woke up a SEVEN year old today. That is mind blowing to me.  I love that I've known of this child since before his first birthday...although he wasn't with me on that first celebration, there has never been a birthday that he wasn't loved, wanted, and celebrated!  And now instead of a generic ONE cake, we have very specific and FAVORITE "Cave of Wonders" cakes (because that's a normal request, right?!).  Happy to oblige, my son.

We had a bowling party over the weekend. It didn't take him long to decide that bowling shoes suck...took me longer to figure it out though and actually take his shoes off. Once the shoes came off, he couldn't be stopped!  "And no ramp for me, sir. I want to bowl like everyone else. In fact, I'm going to put my fingers in the holes too and attempt to launch the 7 pound ball from five feet back---and almost give every adult present a minor heart attack every time the ball NEARLY dropped on my toes.  But I got THREE STRIKES by myself and put those same adults to shame...because I'm seven now.

Bad bowling lane pizza, flat pop and good friends & family make a party good.  His heart was fed with boy things--balls, games and robots, and a guitar; the one thing that speaks back to his heart. He's outplayed two kid sized ukuleles and I'm sure this youth guitar will be played down to the strings. Music is a special language for this boy and I'm happy to support it.

School birthday snack and a celebratory birthday dinner rounded out our weekend

Happy birthday my son. You are such a treasure to me and those around you. Your heart is full of such joy and compassion and adventure. You make me proud to be your mom and love Jesus with you.
