Happy Family Day, Isaac! EIGHT Years Together As A Family

Eight years HOME.  Isaac, just look how much you have changed and grown and inspired.

It was because of your little extra chromosome that you found yourself in need of a forever family. With you came a list of things you'd never be able to do.  We burned that list long ago!  Reading. Writing. Riding a bike. Cooking a three course meal AND DOING THE DISHES, enjoying a wide variety of culture & entertainment, engaging in meaningful relationships. Understanding Jesus' love...and showing it freely to others.  You have captured life, Isaac and are so very excited to live it with those around you.

This is what I want people to see because of your life...the very thing the world stamped as broken and unworthy, is the exact thing God is using for His glory. We, in our earthly minds, think we understand what is good and true and the intent of the Lord's plan.  And the vast majority of time, it is indeed, the exact opposite.  Extra chromosome: genetic defect to be tolerated & trained (or aborted 😢) vs perfectly knit together to mirror the Father's unconditional love for all of us...simple, pure, unencumbered, freely given and received.

Eight years, Isaac.  Eight years of showing me and those around you how easy it is to be loved and to give it to others.  Thank you for giving kisses through COVID face masks, for offering hugs when family members are on the toilet, for checking for a fever when your sister is grumpy (because illness can be the only logical explanation), for being SO upset that Jesus got "big owies" on Good Friday that we may need to skip straight to Resurrection Sunday for the foreseeable future.

I love you, buddy.  All of who you are and how you were made.  Thank you for being my son.
