Spring Fling Covid Style

Outside of a little overnight for Mila's birthday in January, it's been nearly eight months since we've gotten out of dodge and we were desperate to breathe the air in a different place.  So we packed up the van and headed up to the WA-Canadian border with no particular agenda other than to swim and not be at home.

These two are such good travelers. Everyone knew how to manage their own suitcase and pack their own backpack and even pick two travel buddies (dolls or toys) to join them in their seats. No movies this time--only music and our first audiobook together.

The lightest we've ever traveled!  And our first trip without a stroller--hallelujah.

First stop, the Cherry Trees at the University of Washington campus. I've lived here 25 years and this is my first visit, despite having gone to college just across the freeway from here.  Stunning!

Isaac popped into my picture then busted this pose! 😂

Peace Arch Park, US-Canadian Border.  The Border has been closed for nearly a year now separating many families who live on both sides. A singular strip of land nestled between the two check points allow many international friends & family to have day trips together at Peace Arch Park.  We strolled around and enjoyed the sun.  I was surprised to see such a strong Border Patrol presence.

Swimming!

He'd just bob along with his chromosome legs tucked under himself happily singing.

They sleep HARD after swimming <3

Quick little trip up to the Dutch town of Lynden...followed by tacos ;)

Visiting the flower fields in the Skagit Valley.

They are my goofballs.  It wasn't a big trip and nothing particularly exciting happened; most stores were closed in the towns we visited and of course COVID still has most restaurants and activities shut down, but I'm glad we went.  Mila already has a count down going for our next trip in June!
