In our family's first school transition, Mila is officially out of middle school...next stop high school!
This year has been anything but easy for my girl. "Gong show" is the only descriptor available that doesn't include me needing to take communion. She powered through virtual school hades until March when she was able to return in person only to have a series of long term substitute teachers in her developmental classroom that confused the dickens out anything she identified as normal in school. With just six months of her 6th grade year after coming home and six months of her 7th grade year before the Shut Down to draw from, she has really struggled with the concept of once again leaving school and this time not to return to that building. I am so very thankful for her lovely speech therapist who has been with her for three years and a new fascination with the High School Musical series to help her grasp the coming changes.
"Mommy! Mila go to High School! Troy & Gabriella! New friends & teachers. High School Musical School for Mila!"
Um....yes. That!
Today she felt celebrated by her sweet paras and came out of school to balloons & her brother's home made sign and lots of hugs.
So, high school, here we come! (And if someone can figure out how to enroll Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez from East High, that would be SUPER helpful. My girly has come to believe breaking out in a well choreographed and catchy song & dance is how high school is supposed to work...)
