Heart of Worship

Music is often a very important part of language development for children with Down syndrome. It certainly has been for my Isaac...and specifically for him it has been Worship that has helped him express who he is the most. There isn't a day that goes by that Worship isn't being played in the car, in the house, on the phone, etc. In fact, for his birthday last year he got 10 kid worship CDs...he was in HEAVEN! (Don't tell him, but he's getting the story books to go with them this year...).  

It has taken me a while to put my finger on it, but it is in Worship that Isaac is most himself. He doesn't have to fight against his emotions or lack of words, or his chromosomes, he is EXACTLY himself during worship. His spirit isn't being held back by his body. In those minutes of music and surrender he is fully aligned with who God created him to be.  It melts this momma's heart to see it, and I find myself worshiping from a deeper place right along with him.  

So, you can imagine what happened when Pastor Jonathan invited the kids up to the front to sing this Sunday...

I'm thankful for the seed of worship already planted in my child and for a church worship team that regularly waters it. If I can teach my little boy one thing, just ONE thing it's to run to the One who Created him: in joy, in sorrow, in confusion, in victory. It is in God's presence that I want him to feel most comfortable in (and terrible uncomfortable when he is NOT in it!).

So praise on, sweet boy!  You make my heart, and most importantly Jesus's heart happy <3
