{Day 11: Christmas Kids}
Being able to participate in the gift drive at our church every year is something I hold near & dear to my heart. As a child there was more than one year that my family was on the receiving end of an anonymous generous heart representing our Living & Generous God. There is really no bad age for this to be meaningful for kids to learn how to give this way. Last year Isaac cried when he had to give "his" toy away...and I counted that a success. This year we prayed in the car first; that Jesus would help us find the perfect gifts for the kids we picked (including a 5 year old boy) so they could celebrated Jesus's birthday. Isaac was particularly engaged, even declining certain toys I pulled off the shelves for him to choose from: "No. Train". Did Jesus tell your heart that K would like a train? Then let's find something with a train. And that was our process. Hopefully, teaching my little boy not only to give freely, but that God speaks to him with the same power and love as He does to me. (No matter what the people in Target aisle think of us).
{Day 12: Mini Me}
Isaac has employed the philosophy of "if you can't beat them, join 'em" when it comes to our little photo project. He resurrected his little toy camera and has been snap-happy all over the house. I found him yesterday arranging the condiments in the fridge and taking a photo then moving quickly to taking a pix of his own feet standing on a stool. If I ask him to do something...he takes a picture first then photo-documents every step of the obedience process. It takes twice as long, but I kinda can't blame him...it's what he sees at home!
{Day 13: Little Drummer Boy}
Little Drummer Boy is "our" favorite Christmas song right now. With every new CD I turn on Isaac seems to find that track then asks for it on repeat. "Gen. Gen!" (again. again!) is what I hear from the back seat every day along with some "pum pum"s and his own beat-boxing. :) Our current preferred artistic renditions are from Pentatonix, Pink Martini, Josh Groban and Psalty the Singing Songbook (quite the variety, uh?)
{Day 14: Talking Class}
Wednesdays is Isaac's work day (and my day "off"'). We have speech therapy in the morning and any medical appointments needed in the afternoon. Sometimes we can sneak in a play date with friends or a trip to the park, but mostly it's a work day for my little boy. After a frustrating year with a not-so-helpful therapist, we have found a speech therapy center in our town that is A-MAZING. I'm thankful that they are helping me bring out Isaac's best in his communication...and that they aren't put off by little boys that sometimes wear their cranky pants. :) Today we played with play-dough while working on our words. Isaac immediately rolled his into a long snake, flattened it, added dots with his fingers and made it into a piano!
