It's hard to believe that just one week ago Isaac wasn't physically apart of our lives. In fact, it's hard to remember when he wasn't with us!

Team China - PLUS ONE! |
I am learning so much about his little personality. He is a hard sleeper and not a morning person (just like his momma!), but after his nap he is WIDE awake and FULL of energy--his laugh fills the room. Isaac is a good name for him. :) He hasn't taken much to toys, but prefers to wriggle around on the satin bed cover or play "put it in, take it out" with whatever box, bag or shoe is closest. Developmentally, he closer to a 12 month old than a 20 month old, but he will catch up quickly with a little therapy at home, so until then I am treasuring the "baby" time that I missed while he was still with his
foster family. He loves to cuddle and the Exo-womb is his
definite happy place. I've attached a photo of the view I get from the top. :)

I was told he was a picky eater, but he has eaten everything put in front of him. His little 20 pound frame can pack it away, let me tell you! With just three & a half teeth, it's hard to munch on too much, but there is a Chinese rice cracker that he'll do back flips for. We'll have to figure out a way to get some of those home with us.

Isaac came home to us with just one
syllable babblings, but in just a week we've heard more
syllables and new pronunciations in his speech, so I am hopeful for full speech development as well. I've gotten glimpses of a toddler attitude tucked away in there. Gramma gently told him no today when he pulled her glasses off and Isaac gave her the Chinese stink eye like I never seen before. (Took everything not to laugh right there!). When he doesn't get a full 2 hour nap, bedtimes can be a bit painful too, but once we are no longer on a bureaucracy timeline and in our own environment we'll better be able to manage those issues.
I would ask for prayer for two issues: 1. A major goof was found on our adoption paperwork yesterday. Corrected paperwork from another Province has been called for, but please pray for coverage we approach the last government hoops this week. And 2. for physical covering. We are all feeling the effects of being away from home for 10 days. The new food, climate & stressors are taking their toll. We'd like to have the energy to enjoy these last 4 days in Isaac's home country.
Tomorrow we head to the US Consulate. Isaac's first steps on American soil! I'm told this will be a quick appointment and his American visa should be ready in 48 hours. We are almost home!!

I'm just thrilled for your family, Desiree! As someone who absolutely loves Isaac's culture and people yet sometimes gets so frustrated with it, I thank you for honoring where he's come from. What a humble testimony you are showing him and the people that he's come from. Hang in there! I know that travel and everyday life in China is HARD! Praying for all of you.
